We encourage Byteboard candidates to use unit tests in the interview guide they are first directed to via their interview link, but also clarify that doing so is not required.
We find that, given the limited time and the complexity of the three existing tasks (coding tasks), most candidates end up prioritizing finishing the tasks and don't add unit tests. We are thinking about potentially adding a module dedicated to unit-testing in the longer term, so please reach out to the Byteboard team if you are interested in learning more!
