About interview formats available in CoreEval

CoreEval interviews are available across seven (7) technical domains. Learn more at Assessment Offerings.

Every assessment will follow a similar structure regardless of domain selected: Design Exercise, Break, and Coding Implementation.

Interview Structure

The length and description of the different CoreEval interview components are outlined below.

Design Exercise

Length: The default time allotted to the design exercise is 40-minutes.

Description: Open ended technical reasoning exercise where candidates are asked to respond to a number of product and technical questions posed by “coworker”.

Break (optional)

Length: The default time allotted to break is five (5) minutes.

Description: Optional break candidate are able to take prior to beginning coding implementation portion of CoreEval.

Coding Implementation

Length: The default time allotted to the design exercise is 70-minutes.

Description: Candidates gain access to existing codebase; candidates are required to implement a number of tasks or features in codebase.

Interview timing

Before the the CoreEval interview begins, candidates are directed to an interview guide portal that includes an overview of the Byteboard CoreEval along with details on technical setup and interview time. When candidates are ready to take begin the CoreEval interview, they can select coding language and IDE experience (based on your account settings).

 

Candidates are notified of the time remaining during their interview by a timer in the upper right-hand corner of the interview browser window. This timer displays how much time remains (separate for each part of the interview respectively).

  • Candidates can choose to hide the interview timer at any time.
  • Audible time reminders are available to candidates.
